Hi Tamas, I finally settled on the resistor in series. I don have much room to implement other isolation methods on my standard breadboard. I am using 1k Ohms for PGC and PGD. At times it won't program successfully. I believe that the DS12887A is interfering at times.... Not sure. Just using my meter for logic testing.... I ought to improve my programming fixture soon! Regards, John PS: the impedence for the ICD2 PGC and PGD are ~ 31 Ohms after programming the MCU. --- Tamas Rudnai wrote: > Hi John, > > I think the best way is not using these pins at all > for any other activity > but if you can't avoid it probably a jumper is the > best way to disconnect > the pins from the circuit during the programming. > Sometimes a resistor would > do as well and I can imagine a tricky/difficult > circuit that uses fet for > example and Vpp or Vdd from the ICSP connector > controls the gate - but I've > never done this way and I am not as good as able to > tell you how it can or > should be done . > > Tamas > > > > On 4/9/07, John Chung wrote: > > > > Tamas, > > > > What kind of isolation do you use for RB6 and > RB7? > > I had a VERY long night trying to interface > DS12887A > > when it shared the same programming pins..... > > > > John > > > > > > > > --- Tamas Rudnai wrote: > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > I still say that if you use that external pullop > > > with your MCLR you should > > > use the diode as well - same as in the "In > Circuit > > > Serial Programming" > > > manual: > > > > > > > > > http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/31028a.pdf > > > > > > It's on the 3rd page... it's for the mid-range > > > family so don't look at other > > > pins just the MCLR :-) > > > > > > Also what I would try: > > > > > > - 100k resistor change to 33k or 22k > > > - put a 100nF decoupler in between Vdd and Vss > close > > > to the chip > > > > > > It should work for sure, I'm using 10F202 with > > > PicKit2 - virtually I have no > > > any problem on programming it, touching wood. > > > > > > Tamas > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > On 4/9/07, Jinx > wrote: > > > > > > > > One thing I've noticed, don't know if this is > > > relevant but it is unusual > > > > (in my set-up anyway) > > > > > > > > With every other MPLAB project I've got, the > > > Output window comes > > > > to the foreground during the build, then > reverts > > > to the background.
