When you say "virtually", you mean no on-going problem(s) ?

Maybe in my situation ICSP is a misnomer. As the 10F is on an
unpopulated board and connected directly to the programmer, it
*should* program is if it were a DIP actually in the ZIF

I do take your point about components when using ICSP, and I
have those on other boards. And those PICs program every time,
never a complaint. For populated boards I supply 5V Vcc, being
aware of the PS+ limitations in the amperage department. As
mentioned previously, if I do this with the 10F, the Power and
Active LEDs shut down and MPLAB is left hanging

I've had PICs in the PS+ backwards - aaaagh, feel the burn !! -
but not encountered this trouble before

Everything but 10Fs works fine, so I'm suspecting MPLAB, and
am downloading 7.50 now. Hopefully it will be the solution. If it
is or it isn't I'll let you know
