Maybe in my situation ICSP is a misnomer. As the 10F is on an unpopulated board and connected directly to the programmer, it *should* program is if it were a DIP actually in the ZIF I do take your point about components when using ICSP, and I have those on other boards. And those PICs program every time, never a complaint. For populated boards I supply 5V Vcc, being aware of the PS+ limitations in the amperage department. As mentioned previously, if I do this with the 10F, the Power and Active LEDs shut down and MPLAB is left hanging I've had PICs in the PS+ backwards - aaaagh, feel the burn !! - but not encountered this trouble before Everything but 10Fs works fine, so I'm suspecting MPLAB, and am downloading 7.50 now. Hopefully it will be the solution.
