I'm getting a variety of errors when trying to ICSP a 10F with a PicStart Plus. I use the PS+ to ICSP many other PICs from 12Fs to big 18Fs, no problem. The PS+ is still working, I programmed a 12F675 after all the errors just to make sure The most common error is - "Program Memory is code protected. Reprogram the entire part. If "Auto select memory areas and range" on the Memory Ranges tab of the programmer settings is enabled, it must be disabled before proceeding" Auto is disabled. The PIC, a 10F206, won't erase, but you find that out only on a Blank Check. Reading the PIC displays what looks like random code up to about 0x27, then it's clear (FFF), but consecutive reads do not display the same "contents" The 10F is on a board by itself, connected to Vcc, 0V, with 100k from Mclr to Vcc. Vcc is supplied by the PS+ If I supply 5V, as I do with other PICs, something disturbing happens. When attempting an erase, the orange Active LED comes on for about a second, then it and the Power LED both fade to nothing. What could be causing that ? The PS+ power has to be cycled to get the LED back on. I re-boot MPLAB too and reset the PS+ from there as well There are no shorts or breaks in the board, checked under a magnifier. There's continuity between the socket and the pins, and wires are only 3" long (much shorter than I normally use) It was originally about 8" long but I got a lot of serial errors (unexpected), like time-outs, so shortened it The 10F has been replaced (that was fun), no change Any suggestions ? Nothing special about the 10F is there ?
