Hi Sean,

thanks for that. I have the 1997 ARRL book and there is an IQ receiver in it but
I forgot about it. However, your hints led to a web search that eventually hit a
pot of gold:

this is *exectly* what I was looking for, plus audio samples to check out (ok,
the samples are gone, and the homepage too) (and eye-poppingy simple circuit
too). Now for the compressor and for the counter RFI susceptance testing ...
