An *.err file will be generated but it is empty.
The are generated also correct files *.map and *.list.
The working directory is D:\pic\xyz\ so I think there is not problem 
with path length.
In any case hex file generated while using Win98 is cancelled when I 
work with Win2000, so I think I' ll continue to use   Win98.
