" and must measure at a critical distance range of 1 inch" You didn't define which is the target surface, because if it's a 1x1mm iron piece, most of the commercial infrared modules will not be able to sense it even from 1 inch distance. Let's think and talk like engineers and not like accountants... I'll try to explain you why is improbable to find such device at $30. 1. Because the measurement range is below and above the possible ambiant temperature, so definitely it needs an internal temperature reference (like a peltier) somewhere below the 10C, and this a critical moisturing point (around 8C). 2. Because at 1 inch distance and 300C, everything will be melted including the software you're writting and so on... :) -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
