One thing I like about mathcad, and I think it's true for matlab too, is
that you can actually write up a document, and work through an entire
design.  Change the battery voltage, and every bit of it is automatically
recalculated.

On one thermal printer I did, the math was 27 pages. Change something, and
ziiip, it's all recalculated.   Some very interesting interrelationships
popped out of that.
