I am not sure of anything excepting for the fact that I panicked a little when the 1N4148 did not help with this. So far only 16f54 is affected and likely only certain datecodes. By affected I mean that the chips conform to the 'ahem' new style of IO pin described in the datasheets. I would expect similar 'shrinked' chips to behave similarly (f.ex. 12f508 and 509).
