All, I like the TDS210 DSO from Tektronix. Although it is no longer made, there are models that are similar that take it's place. These units have a good B/W (60 Mhz or 100 Mhz), are very compact and light, small footprint, accurate, and easy to use. You can find them on Ebay for $300 to $800, (USD) and you can buy a new replacement model for around $1K or so(USD)for the base model. For working with PIC's, they're ideal. (At least in my book). Personally I don't believe I'd be happy with the PC based units because of the dependency on having a PC closeby. Having a computer closeby isn't the big problem, it's just that you need one to use the instrument. I guess in most cases, that isn't a problem, but I still wouldn't like the PC Based units. I'm with Danny on this one. I too would prefer a separate stand alone unit. Anyway, I suggest the TDS210 from Tektronix. It's a good unit.
