Huh.  You know, I really wish my education had included more
study of "known  working" source code from elsewhere.  I'm not
sure where it would have fit in timewise, but it would have
been both a useful skill AND useful for understanding the topics.
(in fact, I was known to use knowledge from external sources
when give those open-ended assignments like 'design a file system'
anyway, but I was never sure whether that was a good idea...)
