I don't have much experience with the Proton compiler but I can tell you that the MELABS Pic Basic Pro compiler has been extremely useful and functional for us. I'm not the person using the package so I can't fully describe the few problems that we've run into with it. However, most of our small projects are now completely written in PBP. I do the hardware design, Ryan does the software. Recent projects done with PBP include: DMX controlled LED dimmers and chasers DMX controlled incandescent lamp dimmers and chasers DMX pattern generators. touchpad controllers. large digit timing displays. large digit clocks animated displays for museums and interpretive centres Literally dozens of other projects that I just can't be bothered to go look up. Most of our higher volume projects are still coded in assembler. Part of that is that the higher volume projects will support the extra time required. Its OK to spend a week reducing the BOM cost by a buck when you are going to be making many thousands of that item. dwayne -- Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax Celebrating 22 years of Engineering Innovation (1984 - 2006) .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .- `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' Do NOT send unsolicited commercial email to this email address.
