I've been considering setting up a link between my workshop and house. There is a run of about 30 meters from point to point. The data will consist of everything from alarm signals to workshop temperature/humidity etc. I'm considering a PIC to PIC link so standard TTL level signals and I've got 2 pairs of CAT5e to play with so the idea is to drive an optoisolator at each end to combat any noise issues. Data rate is not that critical - somewhere between 19.2k and 56k is perfectly fine. Has anyone got any experience of doing this this way ?
