>PADS is probably the easiest to make a new part for, >IMO, but it's still a huge pain. We also have PADS users here, and between the problems getting them to produce documentation, and the BOM that PADS produces, and the dumb support staff in the UK, we are trying to get rid of it. >There are so many parts out there these days, >nobody has a complete database. The other problem is the different standards that various designers like to use for schematic layout. I do not like the PIC parts that Orcad supply, and many of their other library parts are not much better. Once you get beyond basic parts then things get that complex so quickly that it would be nigh on impossible to have a library that satisfied everyone. Think in terms of using IEC standard logic gate symbols, versus standard US style logic gate symbols. Now have a library where each symbol has the leads come out on 1 grid line spacing, or 2 grid line spacing or ... whatever your local in-house standard is. In short it comes down to a package you like most, and then make symbols for the library how you want ... -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
