There was an article a few months ago (maybe 6 or more) in either 
"Circuit Cellar" or "Nuts & Volts" magazine intended for a bicycle wheel 
and display an American Flag. Both magazines have Web sites, just google 
for the name.

Also for the beginner (and even more advanced) I would recommend both. 
There are articles on theory, building and all sorts of projects and 
many advertisements for parts and services.
