Well actually I've got over 75 different PIC types in stock, but if I didn't have all those and wanted to get 10 of one type just to have around for quick one-offs, I would chose the 18F2620 today. We've got a lot of existing code that works accross the 12, 14, and 16 bit cores. If we didn't have this, I might possibly pick 30F4012 instead. I was surprised to see that you used either 18 pin or 40 pin, but not the 28 pin. I find the 28 pin the most useful general purpose package. For quick one-offs that will most likely be hand built, you're not going to save much space using a 18 pin instead of 28 pin part. On the other hand, the 40 pin parts, particularly in DIP, are considerably more cumbersome to work with. It's also been my experience that the vast majority of quick and dirty one-off projects are served just fine with 28 pins. Another thing we use a lot for such projects is the QuickProto-01 (http://www.embedinc.com/products/qprot01). We've used more of them internally than we've sold. I'm not sure why they aren't selling as expected, but we find them very hand for our own uses. ******************************************************************** Embed Inc, Littleton Massachusetts, http://www.embedinc.com/products (978) 742-9014.
