You say you are a programmer, I assume you spent some time learning to
program. Do you know programming theory, things like properties of
sorting algorithms, calculatability, B+ trees, hashing, recursive decent
and bottom-up parsers, properties of numerical algorithms, linear
programming, AB-algorithm, etc? If you do: there just is as much to
learn about electronics. Get a copy of H&H and read it, read it, read
it.
