If you mean "Win2k/XP command line", then have a look at the available Win2k/XP command line tools some time. You might be surprised. (Note that the Win2k/XP command line does not have much to do with the MS-DOS command line. If you're only using the commands that were available under MS-DOS, you're limiting yourself without good reason.) Or That's just the Microsoft stuff. There are tons of other tools (many of them free) available. Many of the Unix tools have been ported, see e.g. or . OTOH, this may not be of much importance to you, since it probably won't convince you to move away from Cygwin bash. (No need either if you like it.) But there's more stuff available than most people think. Ever done a "dir c:\windows\system32\*.exe /w"? There are a few GUI apps, but most are CLI tools.
