There is correlation between length and diameter for impedance matching and tuning. I.e. both length and diameter matter and one depends on the other to a certain extent. Can you use some elastic wire that is insulated (sleeve or plastic clad) and can be folded ? Ev. with an end cap of some sort ? E.g. toys often use 'piano wire' antennas and they are commercial enough. The end is either capped with a plastic blob or formed into a loop to avoid poking holes in people and objects (such as packaging). If you use this pay attention to how the antenna is secured to the board. An elastic antenna will try hard to cause its solder joint to fail if soldered directly without strain relief and immobilization.
