Wouter, Please pardon my mangled syntax. What I meant to say was that cygwin (bash) supports find, touch and other standard UNIX commands that have no DOS equivalent. I find it useful when a single line will get the job done. I also agree with the other posters that for more complex scripting Python is a good way to go.
