I that we have all seen the clever design by Bob Axtell for the transformerless supply.  The 0.82uF cap doesn't have to be AC rated since its on the other side of the diode, but does it matter on the construction..ie...OK to use a metalized polyester film cap or does it need to be ceramic...or....?
