(Sorry, missed the tag). Hello, piclisters. As a relative young guy (29 years old on April) I would like to start a new stage of my life. Also, the recent situation in my country (which should not be discussed on the list because of its political base, off-list discussion is welcomed) has made me and my wife (27 on June) want to look for a different (hopefully better) future. We live in South America in an oil-rich/poor-people "on development" country called Venezuela. I am an electronics engineer and have worked 3 years, since I graduated from college, as a maintenance engineer for the Control and Instrumentation Department at a really big (third in the world for its installed power capacity) hydro electrical dam. The team I belong to (Automatic Regulators) is in charge of excitation systems, speed regulator systems, synchronization process and plenty other things like inverters, UPS, crane regulation system=85 The company I work for is a 4000 government company, which produces 70% of my country's electricity through 3 hydro dams. My wife is also an EE, she have been working as a professor of Digital Electronics 101 at our alma mater. I am using your time (and bandwidth) to explain this because I think we have some Australian fellows on the list and I would like your/their opinion, based on this info, about the possibilities for us to find suitable jobs in Australia. Don't get me wrong, I am not expecting to find exactly the same kind of jobs, nor expecting to receive job offers from anybody from the list, I just want to know if there are any first hand experiences on moving to work to Australia and maybe to research about real opportunities on my field of experience. Thanks for your time, regards, *Carlos Marcano* -Guri, Venezuela- -- = http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
