He shows how to hook up the color module without using the AppMod adapter. the article is Stamp-centric, but you'll get the idea. (BTW, the wiring diagram has a typo and shows two "Vdd" terminals. The one with the ground and /OE connection should be labeled "Vss" or "Gnd".)
