I do crimp the insulation as well as the copper and I TRY to fold the tabs neatly over the wire and insulation. If you pinch just right, it works. Seeing a closeup of the crimper tool, it makes sense to use that instead. If I had ever seen a clear picture of one in the catalogs I would have known instantly! I think I might even have one.
