No, these had the heads on the Voice Coil assembly, and retracted out of the 
pack. I know this because I spent various hours aligning the head stack - 
including once crashing the alignment pack. I don't know if IBM ever used 
the CDC drives, but I am sure they would have had a model that used the 
pack.
