Hello folks As I mentioned before I am developing a PIC (16F676) based solar tracker that Is supposed to be released under some Open Source License I can imagine it interesting that the hardware had a build in Interface for serial programming and maybe even data communication with a computer, that doesn't require anything fancy other than a standard cable. So I figure a standard 9 pin DB Serial connector on the board would be OK. And if it was just to program the devices that would be great, but maybe sometimes one could also be interested in data gathering or remote control, troubleshooting or calibration... So if the serial connector had a dual functionality even better! Of course that may then require a switch to select between modes... Is there anything similar out there in published circuits that I could base my design on? Thanks everybody for your help Tobias P.S: am working away on the program and like the SourceBoost IDE a lot -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
