I'd say do not give up so easily on it. Unless your compressed air tore one of the contacts to the id chip inside it is most likely that the printer 'thinks' that the head got unprimed (very likely) and that it is/may be a refurbished head as it has 'seen' it before. You could try swapping heads with another identical printer if you have access to one. I'd put the head in lukewarm alcohol+dest. water for a few hours and see what happens then (do not dry the head after that, just wipe the outside dry). Getting the head unprimed is almost worse than burning it because the ink dries in the thin channels and they are almost impossible to unclog after that. The lukewarm water+alcohol tries to fix that. There is more information about unclogging heads and swapping heads 'known' to the printer to be 'gone bad' on the internet. I've had success with the watery alcohol (or vice versa) a few times so far, with Olivetti style heads.
