Well, I seem to have hosed a registry entry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\virtualdevicedrivers (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314452/en-us). I've updated the registery as indicated, and the error has gone away, but things still aren't right. As a result, my "16-bit subsystem" (i.e. COMMAND prompt, which I use a lot for various development tools for work) is quite hosed. Screen I/O seems to be about 110 baud, and many things do not work (if the program tries to do graphics, for example). To make things more irritating, thing work properly *ONCE* when the system is first booted up. After that, it's back to broken. This is an IBM Thinkpad, T42p, with an ATI Mobility Fire GL T2. I've nuked the ATI drivers and re-installed fresh, no luck. So, 1) Does anyone have any clues? Or do I have to nuke the OS and try again? 2) Could people tell me what the values are for the above registry key on their system? It might help me track things down. Thanks, Bill -- Psst...
