Forget "Ice 9" - they're looking for non-existent DNA-9 so they can make it. Figures. Actually 11 and 15 base long sequences are mainly being sought - short DNA sequences that have never been found in humans or other creatures. The theory is that short sequences should have a reasonable probability of existing and, if some don't, then they may have proved to be so dangerous that they have been eliminated from the genetic pool. If you want to know why anyone would want to recreate such dangerous material read the article. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/life/mg19325853.200?DCMP=NLC-nletter&nsref=mg19325853.200 Russell -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
