I got a Bluetooth pair of cordless headphones for Christmas and really like the performance. Just as advertised, the range is about 30 feet and it simply goes dead suddenly when you get in a null or go outside the range. One issue you may have is that at least with these cordless headphones, it can "pair" with any suitable transmitter in the area. I don't know how many can coexist, but you must train the headphones upon power-up by pressing the start button on the transmitter, then the power button on the headphones, themselves. After holding it down for a couple of seconds, the communications channel is established and you get audio. While you might get by with many pairs of transmitters and receivers, I don't think you can have, say, 10 headsets listening to Channel 1, 4 listening to Channel 2, etc. At least with this pair of headphones, it only comes to life after establishing a link with a specific transmitter that you had in setup mode. Both the transmitter and headset have status LED's that blink slowly when they are on but not connected to a transmitter. They blink differently when training and when actually working so I don't know if the transmitters can establish multiple streams like you get with multicasting over TCP/IP. My suggestion is to find some way to try it before you buy it. If it works as you need it to, Bluetooth is a good possibility. The only other thing I have noticed that might not be a factor, is that there is enough buffering involved to give about a 1/4-second audio delay as you listen. You notice it if you flip a switch or do anything that changes the audio suddenly. You would certainly hear the delay if you could hear the source via some other means at the same time you heard it through the headset so that is another consideration. This particular headset came from Sharper Image and will run about 2.5 hours before you must recharge the LI battery which is not user-removable, (my only real criticism).
