http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/12/20/baby.airport.reut/index.html Second close call. Shouldn't there be some sort of PIR detector that stops the machine when it ingests grandsons and live pets ? (getting an X-ray of a live fish smuggled in a plastic bag of water should be on the 'cool trophy' list of the machine operators imho). Also shouldn't there be an independent radiation monitor next to the (inside ?) machine to monitor the machine in case it develops a fault and irradiates the queue and the operators for 24-48 hours until something gives ? Like a permanent survey meter set to alarm and mounted in/on the machine with no connection to the machine ? Aside: there exist X-ray bags for films. These are lead-lined cardboard bags. It is obvious how they work. Question: Can one use such a bag to pass precious films through a machine ? (assume one is in the civilized part of the world where the assumption of terrorism centers on an explosive film canister as ooposed to politically explosive pictures on the negatives) Peter -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
