Back on this device, power factor does not hurt the typical consumer since they are not charged for apparent power. So, does a lightly loaded motor have a higher power factor causing it to draw more apparent power and more current (which we are not charged for) and ALSO increase I2R losses due to the higher current than would be required for the same power with a lower power factor? Is that how it works? How much of the losses in a typical single phase induction motor are I2R?
