"Later model " & "serial" don't apply to Palm.

The early Tungstens & Zires are serial, as are the Treos.

The key is the type of port used on the Palm.  USB models have the the
mini-B connector.  Serial models have the custom 10-pin connector.  Many of
the cradles & cables are serial-USB converters.

You'll need to go back to a 2000-era version, say an M500 or a IIIc.  Can't
beat the price.

There's always IR.
