Plenty of people have said WTC 1 & 2 should not have falled straight down
either.  It's not like this sort of thing happens a lot.

You'd need to know the contents of the building.  There were diesel tanks in
the basement.  Apparently not big enough to cause a major problem.  Who
knows what else what down there?  There could have been an intense fire down
there to weaken the bottom.

I'm sure I've seen a photo of WTC-7 with a huge chunk missing.  Then of
course the question would be why didn't it fall sideways.  (That was the aim
of the 1993 WTC bombing, to get one tower to fall onto the other.)
