Agreed. Using a T43 here and it has both the nubby and the trackpad. The trackpad is disabled. (Actually it's set up to be used as a scrollpad only, but I forget that it's set up to do that and forget ot use it.) Having the trackpad disabled drives co-workers nuts if they grab my laptop, which is another plus. :-) It gets handed right back by whoever took it and can't figure out how to drive the nubby. (And always gives me a good laugh.) Actually at the office, it's usually in the docking station, and the dual-monitor support built into the laptop (using one external monitor and the internal LCD screen), rocks. I've had three ThinkPads now, either from work or my own -- they're built like tanks, their features are well thought-out, and they "just work" when you fire them up -- every time.
