That's the reason I only buy ThinkPad's. Not only is the TrackPoint easy to use, it let's me keep my hands in the typing position and makes it actually more productive than a mouse during tasks like Word Processing. That and I like the Titanium composite case on the T-Series. I used to sell ThinkPads, and when customers would ask for a mouse, I'd tell them to use the TrackPoint for 2 weeks. If they still wanted a mouse, I'd give them one free. Only ever gave away two mice. It just takes a little time to get used to. Now I like it so much I got a keyboard for my desktop with an integrated TrackPoint. Otherwise, I agree. The pointer systems on every other laptop are worthless. I don't know anyone with a non ThinkPad that doesn't carry a mouse around to use instead. Those stinking drag-pads are uselss and you end up pawing at them like a cat burying a turd. And some of the other pointer sticks don't respond well. (Toshiba's is particularly bad, and Compaq's was passable) This is not a ThinkPad ad, I just feel that strongly about it, having been a laptop user for years, I just don't find anything else acceptable for doing serious _work_ on. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Hord" To: "Microcontroller discussion list - Public." One of the drawbacks of using a laptop is that (for me, at least) nothing beats the intuitive functionality of a mouse for navigating the GUI. And the problem with using a mouse with a laptop is that you need to cart the thing around- even if you use a wireless mouse, it has to be stored somewhere in the case and usually, they take up too much volume. This little devil slips right into your PCMCIA slot for storage and charging, then uses Bluetooth to talk to the laptop. No wires, no extra storage. Unless you happen to be USING your slot already.
