Oh, > and the owners of the powered device are bigger than me How much bigger? :-) but seriously, if I wanted to be extra careful I'd fix the joint then replace the fuse with a 500mA part. Then watch the fuse during power up, if it dies violently I'd be cautious and check out the rest of circuit carefully. If a 500mA fuse blows without big sparks then I'd try the 800mA fuse.
