You are correct.  There is a free version that has everything available but 
export to DXF, Gerber and N/C drill or you can get an eval version that 
works with no limitations for 30 days.  I started using Diptrace back in the 
Spring and have been happy with it.  For me, it's the easiest package I've 
found for auto routing.

Actually looking at the web site there is a difference between 'free'
version and 'evaluation' version. The eval works for 30 days and the web
site does not indicate any restrictions on exporting.
