I've got an Altronix AL-1700 MPLAB compatible programmer. Recently I decided
to try upgrading it from MPLAB, on the assumption that it would either do
nothing as the firmware wouldn't accept upgrade commands, or it would
upgrade to the new version and allow me to program newer chips.
Unfortunately whilst it now reports a new firmware version, I can no longer
program, only read PICs.

Could somebody out there with one of these tell me what firmware version it
reports originally, so I can try reverting to that version (I forgot to make
a note!) Better yet, could anybody give me the correct firmware d/l, or tell
me how to fix it? Alternatively would anybody know how to contact Alan
Ayres, the guy who used to run Altronix (the company appears to have folded)
for advice?
