> Can one really mix no-lead RoHS compliant SMT parts along with ones that > have lead in the pins in a reflow oven? Yes, with caveats. Different lead platings have different levels of compatability with different processes: 1. SnPb plated components WILL work with lead-free solders, HOWEVER, the reflow temps required for lead-free solders may be higher than a SnPb plated part will allow, and the board will no longer be RoHS compliant; 2. Sn or NiPdAu plated components will work with SnPb solders with no changes required to the process. Other lead-free finishes may vary in their backwards compatability with lead- bearing solders; check with a manufacturer for details.
