Do not extend the 4 pin header.  Make a light adapter for the serial cable.  Get rid of the box you put the SX in and make a cable that looks like the one in the photo I have attached.  This way you can plug in the SX-Key to the circuit, but only have a small amount of weight hanging onto the SX-Key.
