I would have thought there was something like this already in an LCD, used for cockpit display type stuff. This project looks like one I did a no-bid on, for a electric scooter type control panel...wanted speed, battery levels and some other stuff on a round LCD PicDude wrote: On Friday 10 November 2006 11:17, alan smith wrote: > Maybe describe what your doing.....only because I wonder if you can do the > same thing on a graphical LCD module, or OLED module? Something similar to this module ( http://www.ledtronics.com/ds/CBG1500/ ), but with more elements in the form of 7-seg chars, etc. I need a specific shape, so I don't expect to find any off-the-shelf units that would fit my needs. Wouldn't OLEDs to also require custom plastic housing? LCD's would be really nice, but of the couple companies I've contacted about this, cutting the LCD glass to my specific shape would be difficult and due to the expected breakage rate, it would get expensive fast. Currently I'm making these out of individual LEDs and COTS 7-seg chars, but for various reasons, I have to use products from 3 different manufacturers. The net result is that all segments don't exactly have the same color or intensity. Also, some light coming off the side of some LEDs are lighting up the components inside, making them a bit visible from the outside, and I'd like to eliminate that.
