Steve,
in USBView in Options, click on "Config Descriptors". That should show
the configuration descriptors. As for sniffers, TotalPhase makes a
full-speed sniffer (hardware) for a reasonable price (~$400 ) -
http://www.totalphase.com/products/beagle/usb/ . I'm not affiliated
with them, but I have used the device in a pinch, when our CATC Tracer
wasn't available. It should be plenty for what you're doing.
