That's the limit of > FAT32, so NTFS? 4GB is the file size limit for FAT32 - the partition size can be much bigger (I have a 300GB drive formatted as one FAT32 partition - I would have used NTFS but it's connected to a SAMBA server which for some reason will only handle NTFS as Read-Only).
