Very odd, I would've expected that considering the cost of the LEDs, adding some monitoring to indicate blown LED-string(s) would've been relatively insignificant, and would be safer (IMHO) if you blow one LED on a dark road in the middle of nowhere some night. The NHTSA should've at least allowed this option.
