The one thing you could do is contact MChip. I have heard (on this list) that they are EXTREMELY willing to rectify any problem with a dev tool, usually with very little prodding. If you contacted them reporting the RJ12 jack contacts are causing you problems I wouldn't be surprised if they just shipped you a replacement.
