Yup, hard to beat the old bucket of sand. :) I have some ammo cans that I've adapted for experimental charging systems, with connectors for sensors and charge/discharge current. Cheap, and effective. They may vent, but they will keep all the hot frags in one place. I also did a lexan enclosure for larger systems that I needed to observe while running.
