It's documented by Microsoft, buy typical no work around is suggested: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/a6aaf662-4153-4f8c-873e-58d91aedc1ea1033.mspx?mfr=true A possible "sledgehammer" fix is to prevent NTFS from generating the short file name: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/regentry/28231.mspx?mfr=true Obviously this is only of use if you don't use any legacy apps that require short names.
