Silicon Labs AeroPhone Single Chip Phone. Pull a sim card out of a cingular account phone and you're pretty much ready to go. I've never used it, but I have been trying to dream up a reason to buy the dev kit for this chip. http://www.silabs.com/tgwWebApp/public/web_content/products/Wireless/AeroFon e/en/Si4905.htm It's an ARM cpu core, it's got I2C, UART, keypad interface, PMW, adc, dac, and all sorts of other stuff, check it out. They have a video somewhere in their site that shows a prototype phone working. -Mario -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of Harold Hallikainen Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 6:00 PM To: Pic List Subject: [ee] Embedded cellphone module? I have an application where an embedded cellphone module would be useful. I'd like something that does low speed serial data (14.4kbps or so) over a national (US) cellular network. Data would be exchanged infrequently (once a week to once a month). Does anyone know of such a module and what sort of arrangements can be made with cellular companies to do such data exchanges at off peak times, ideally only paying for data exchanged instead of a "per unit" cost?
