They've been under discussion on http://avrfreaks.net since the end of
june, though I haven't been following closely enough to relay 
conclusions.
Digikey hasn't always been out of stock; several people have bought them
there.  (It's a bit disconcerting that there is such skimpy info on the
Atmel site at this rather late date.)
