I don't know how they hook up. I embed a morse code beeper as a debug tool in the PIC12F675, and I have it do a memory dump out an unused (or temporariily assigned) pin. So for those PICs that won't hook up to the ICD2, I use the morse code beeper. I keep a pad of paper handy to capture the dump. Last shot. Maybe MPLAB7.42 has reverted to bad ICD2 code again?
